Questions about Injured Birds or Wildlife
What do I do if I find injured wildlife?
For injured wildlife in Indian River County, call Indian River County Animal Control at 772-226-3485 located at 4350 43rd Avenue. Visit their web site at http://www.irces.com/Animal_Control_Division/Index.htm
What do I do if I find a baby bird whose fallen out of the nest?
If the baby bird is a nestling and you can find the nest, place the nestling back in the nest. Don’t worry about touching the bird, the nestling will not be rejected because you have touched it. A birds’ sense of smell is not very well developed, and mom will not realize you have touched her baby.
If it is a healthy fledging, there is no need to rescue the bird, and you should not feed it. If the bird looks unhealthy or injured, call a wildlife hospital for advice
